About MilSpots

What this is

MilSpots is a directory of publicly visitable military attractions: museums, memorial ships, display sites and viewing points. Open a city and see, with no input required, a ranked list of what is worth seeing nearby — plus a map.

How we verify (trust is the product)

• Every listing carries an official or institutional source link and a last-verified date.
• Listings without a source link and a verification date are never published — they are excluded at build time.
• Verification older than 90 days is down-ranked and clearly marked “Not recently verified”.
• Opening status only ever comes from public official sources. “Unknown” is shown honestly and is never displayed as “open”.

Ranking uses four signals — rarity (0.35), visibility (0.30), access (0.20) and currency (0.15) — combined into a weighted recommended score.

What we do not do

• No user-generated content — no comments, uploads or posts.
• No accounts — the wishlist is stored only in your browser.
• No real-time military news — content is a static, verified snapshot.
• No restricted sites — we only list publicly accessible places.

Privacy

Your location is processed entirely in your browser to sort nearby spots, and is never sent to our servers. There is no analytics or tracking script on this site.
